Matthew 6:34

Grace and peace be with you right now friend! As we scroll through our feeds, it’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, right? The world is constantly shouting at us to hustle, grind, and have every aspect of our lives perfectly mapped out by the time we’re 25. But can we just take a deep breath and pause for a second?

If you’re anything like me, the idea of “preparing for the future” can feel very exciting and yet overwhelming. The truth is, none of us really know what’s around the corner. But as children of God, we have something (or should I say Someone) that sets us apart from the world’s rat race—we have God’s promises to lean on.

stop stressing

I’ve had countless moments where I felt like I needed to have my life together. Career? Check. Relationships? Check. Health? Fitness? Finances? Double-check. But every time I feel the pressure of needing to know my future, I'm reminded of Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Here’s the thing—we don’t have to figure it all out! God is literally saying, “Hey, I got this. Just trust me.” And let’s be real, trusting God’s timing is way more peaceful than stressing over a five-year plan.

the balance

Look, I’m not saying we should all just sit back, binge Netflix, and wait for our dreams to drop from the sky. God calls us to be wise stewards of our time, gifts, and resources. But there’s a difference between wisely planning for the future and obsessing over it.

In James 4:13-15, we’re reminded that we shouldn’t boast about tomorrow because “you do not know what a day may bring.” This isn’t meant to scare us—it’s to set us free! We can make our plans, but ultimately, it’s God who directs our steps. Surrendering our future to God doesn’t mean we stop moving—it means we move with faith, knowing He’s got the master blueprint.

learning to be present

One of the biggest ways we can prepare for the future is by being fully present in the now. Yes, I said it. It’s easy to get caught up in what's coming next, but don’t miss what God is doing in your life today.

Matthew 6:34 reminds us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” We miss out on so much when our minds are wrapped up in tomorrow’s “what-ifs.” Focus on the opportunities and growth that are happening right now, because God is using today to prepare you for the blessings of tomorrow.

God’s plans are bigger (and better)

Here’s the part that always blows my mind—God’s plans for your life are way bigger and better than what you can imagine. In Ephesians 3:20, it says, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” Let that sink in.

Sometimes we limit God by putting Him in a box based on what we think is possible. But God’s vision for your life is infinitely greater than your wildest dreams. Preparing for the future isn’t about controlling every little detail—it’s about letting go and allowing God to show up in ways you never thought possible.

the uncertainty

I get it—uncertainty is uncomfortable. But you know what? It’s also where God does some of His best work. Think about the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. They didn’t know when they’d reach the Promised Land, but God was providing for them every step of the way.

Preparing for the future means embracing uncertainty with confidence because we know that no matter what happens, God is in control. We don’t need all the answers. We just need to take one step of faith at a time and trust that God will guide us through the unknown.

walk boldly

So, here’s the truth: You don’t have to fear the future because God is already there. He’s not waiting for you to have it all together before He blesses you. He’s simply asking you to trust Him, live in the present, and walk boldly into tomorrow knowing He’s got you.

Take a moment today to lay your worries, dreams, and plans at His feet. Allow God to prepare your heart, mind, and spirit for the future He’s designed for you. And as you move forward, know that every step you take is part of His divine purpose.

This is your reminder that preparing for the future doesn’t mean you have to hustle harder or stress more—it means you get to trust deeper, live freer, and walk confidently knowing God’s got something amazing in store.

So, let’s stop stressing and start trusting. God’s already written your future, and trust me—it’s going to be incredible.

Scripture to meditate on: Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Let’s prepare for the future—together in faith. Amen!

in harmony,
